Schools to Watch

We won a very prestigious award on Wednesday. The award is Schools To Watch. Only a handful of schools in the country won this amazing award. This proves that Canon Mac can't be beat. This award was won because of us students and our teachers. We always give 110% on tests, quizzes, and everything else. We also are respectful to ourselves, to our teachers, and our fellow students. This is what makes CMS awesome. This is how we won that award. We expect the best. Good bye CMS, talk to you later!

7th grade olympics

Over the course of two days the 7th grade social studies teachers held a competition known all around the school. The OLYMPICS. It was pretty close through the two days and eventually the winner and loser was announced. In third place were the Spartans which won the Olympics the previous year. In second place were the Knights after a long period time in third place. Finally, as you all know, whether you like it or not, the TITANS WON THE OLYMPICS. They reclaimed their glory after a disappointing loss the year before. However, we must also acknowledge the Knights and Spartans because they put up a great fight in the Olympics. Also this was the final year in which the chariot race requires two people. Great job to all seventh grade students that participated. See you next year!

Candy Cane Sale

The 2010 Candy Cane sale at CMS is a favorite among students. It allows the students to buy candy canes to send to their friends, and even their teachers.

Some students buy a lot, and some buy very little. Nevertheless, everyone likes receiving a candy cane.

The candy canes were 50 cents a piece, and students could buy as many as they pleased.

The Candy Cane sale at CMS is a great way to spread holiday cheer, and puts everyone in the holiday spirit.

Girls Night Out

On December 2, 2010 Canonsburg Middle School held its 5th annual Girls Night Out. A night where girls can put aside their differences and have fun! This event was made for the 7th and 8th grade girls of CMS to be able to build confidence in themselves, make new friends, and just be able to be themselves. Girls Night Out included various activities to do like "Dance!Dance!Dance!" where all the girls were taught to do many Latin dances. Another station was "Sweet Tooth Station"
where each girl got to decorate their own individual cupcake with icing and sprinkles! One last activity was the dinner and raffle. Everyone got pizza, pretzels, cookies, and a raffle ticket. When your raffle ticket was called you got a prize! These were just a couple of activities at Girls Night Out. This event was made for the girls of CMS to know that no girl is left behind!

Dodgeball Tournament

It was a late November morning, and all of Canonsburg Middle School's students were gathered into the gymnasium for one of its most highly anticipated events, the student council dodgeball tournament. The third annual tournament was quite the fun occasion, but the pride of winning the title of champion was on the line as well as the feeling of helping to raise money for our student council.
All the participants helped raise money by paying to take part in the tournament. There was a lot of participation, and most classrooms had nearly all their students involved for the event. This good, clean fun was a great way to nurture competitions between the academic teams, as well as giving the students a sense of involvement. It even pitted classrooms from the same team against one another in an all-out battle to defeat all the other classes. For this time, the students bonded as a group, something you do not see too often with students with conflicting interests.
Congratulations to seventh grade champions Homeroom 303, Mrs. Drakeley's class, and reigning school champions Homeroom 110, Mrs. Boyle's class. After many tie games and close calls, these two classrooms managed to withstand defeat and survived to the end. Hopefully, our school will do more events like these, bringing us together as not only a school, but a whole. Thanks to the lot of work done by student council to make this possible and the awesome contribution the students made by joining in on the fun, for it paid off nicely, and you could tell that the students were pleased by the outcome
